NERVA Championships

The Tsunamis finished the year in a strong pool of New England 12′s teams. This is GREAT news for the region and the growth we are experiencing. Coach G and Coach Becky both report that the first 3 matches of the day were the best volleyball they played all year. Great Progress! Congratulations!

The Riptide climbed all the way to the A level often times competing with our own Piranhas at the same tournaments! It was great to see them playing up and giving great competition to everyone they faced! Thanks to all who sent pictures this year especially Mr. Gaskell who sent LOTS of them! Much appreciated!

The Piranhas were a fiercely competitive team. I had the opportunity to see them practice quite often. I was always impressed! The coaches (Kristie, Nick and Chelsey) always reported back that it was a great group to be with! It was a very good year!

“I would take this group again in a heartbeat…” says coach Jenn. The Tiger Sharks were a fun bunch that really loved to compete. With only one practice a week to work with, this group did amazing. From now on, we have to get at least 2 practices a week… the Tiger Sharks have convinced me!

The 15′s (playing in the 16 open division mind you) discovered, as all young teams do, that you have to work extra hard to play up an age division! We are thrilled that they finished the year in the Open Division in New England! Congratulations Sea Serpents.

The Sharks had an interesting season with lots of learning involved. I was always amazed at how much detail went into the process of becoming a better team. Each player came to the gym with the attitude that they were going to improve their game and it was clear that all have improved! The “results” don’t always show up in the numbers. Success was abundantly clear from those of us that watched over time and the work you did this year will pay big dividends! Great Job Sharks!

The 16 Typhoons had an amazing year. It was an honor to coach this group. They’re talented, certainly; but they are also amazing people. The one characteristic that stands out is how incredibly unselfish and generous they were with each other. Having been defeated in Overtime in the semifinal match of the Regional Championship was a devastating blow, but one that I feel certain will only motivate these incredible athletes to an even higher level. We may not hold the title, but in my mind each one of these players is a true champion in every sense of the word!
The Typhoons finish the season Ranked #3 in New England overall. Congratulations to all!

The 17 Barracuda’s played up into the 18′s age group all year. They were the runner up in the consolation bracket of the 18AA championship. I know for a fact (we scrimmage a lot!) that in the last few practices, the 17′s played so much better when they were having fun! It was good to see them play lose and with smiles! Congrats on a great year!!

The 18 Otters were a fiery bunch with lots of spirit! At one tournament they had 5 players and they were so close they decided they didn’t want to disrupt their chemistry by “borrowing” a player.
